I hope you had a great holiday season. There is an all-new episode of Ghost Adventures this Friday to help you bring in the new year. The boys are investigating Prospect Place mansion, a location known for it's dramatic history.
Now the that holidays are winding down we can get back to regular life. I hope you have a good new year! As always, feel free to share this info with friends, readers, or other fans of the show.
Episode info:
In Trinway, Ohio, there is a place so saturated with dark history, it is no wonder that the fight between good and evil is still continuing from when it started in 1856. Prospect Place Mansion is said to be infested with paranormal activity. It was a major stop for runaway slaves in the underground railroad, many of whom are said to have died in the basement. The owner, Georde Adams, was a pillar of the community. His wealth and influence afforded him the ability to help slaves escape to freedom. He was willing to do anything to protect the slaves traveling through the underground railroad.
There are many sad stories about the mansion. It is said that a little girl once fell from the balcony. It was in the dead of winter and the family had to wait until spring before they could properly bury her. They kept her body in the cold storage in the basement and during this time the girl's mother came to visit her every day.

Ghost Adventures - Execution Rocks
This Friday Zak, Nick, and Aaron will be visiting an island that few paranormal investigators have ever step foot upon. Execution Rocks has been home to executions, murder, and accidental death. In order to tackle an island with this much history the guys are pulling out the stops and using all sorts of equipment.
The holidays are are here so I hope you get an opportunity to relax and spend time with your friends and family. As always, feel free to share this info with friends, readers, or other fans of the show!
Episode info:
Execution Rocks is given its name because British soldiers used the rocks around the island to carry out executions. They would chain the prisoners up at low tide and wait for the water to slowly rise until the prisoners were drowned. The prisoners were in the water for up to twelve hours before the water rose high enough for them to drown.
It is standard for a lighthouse keeper to commit to living in a lighthouse for a year. However, lighthouse keepers at Execution Rocks were allowed to cancel their contracts and leave at any point. Many keepers were frightened by strange phenomena and choose to leave early.
One of Americas most notorious serial killers, Carl Panzram, was a big fan of the lighthouse. Carl Panzram once stated, "I have murdered 21 human beings. I have committed sodomy on at least 1000 male human beings. For all of these things, I am not in the least bit sorry." The lighthouse was his chosen place to dump the dead bodies of his victims.
With all of the dark history surrounding the island, is it a wonder that few paranormal investigators have payed visit to the lighthouse.

This week on Ghost Adventures
Hi Lesley,
This Friday, the guys are heading to the rough neighborhoods of east LA to investigate the Linda Vista Hospital. There was so much gang violence in the 1990's that Linda Vista had a surprisingly high death toll.
You will get to see Nick more afraid than you have ever seen him on an episode of Ghost Adventures (though I won't spoil the fun and tell you why).
I've included some advance info about the episode and a link to a video clip below. Feel free to share this info with friends, readers, or other fans of the show! Have a great evening!
Episode info:
Hospitals are for the sick and dying. For many, Linda Vista was their last stop before heading to the morgue. Linda Vista, located in the heart of east LA, is said to be one of the most haunted locations in Los Angeles. When you consider the rough neighborhood surrounding the hospital, it is no surprise that the hospital had a high death toll.
Before the investigation, Zak visits the incineration room, where the bodies of the dead were burned. While examining the room he comes across what looks like a bone fragment or a tooth from one of the hospital's patients.
Most the hospital looks the same way it did when it was closed down because it was abandoned so quickly after being shut down. The guys believe that when a place is left so quickly, and looks so similar to the way it did when people died, they location is more likely to be haunted
The guys do not leave disappointed. They capture voices in the middle of the day, and later in the investigation Nick gets one of the worst scares in his life!

Ghost Cases travels to the UK
In the upcoming episode of Ghost Cases, Paul and Holly travel to the UK and investigate paranormal activity at the Lion and Swan hotel. Aside from the paranormal, they made me remember how small most UK hotel rooms are. :)
Within the hotel witnesses have seen ghosts, most especially a man and a dog. Yes, a ghost hound!!! Although, really the ghosts are kind of besides the point because the real paranormal focus is a cursed painting of a rather pretty and scantly clad woman.
I didn't quite get why the painting was cursed, but the legend is that is that if the painting is moved someone will die. So what did Paul Kimball do? Come on, you can guess. If you guessed that he moved it and touched it, you are correct!
Actually, I think Paul has removed my writers block and given me something to write about for Grey Matters next week and the theme will be - why we should respect the paranormal. Heck, I don't believe in every paranormal thing, but that doesn't seem to matter. I think as long as there are people that believe in it you are tempting fate to totally disregard it. Maybe it just has to do with consciousness, more so than spirits, demons or curses, but people do need to respect what we refer to as the paranormal.
So by that you probably know that someone did die. You can scoff and write it off as coincidence if you wish, but given the small amount of people that were probably involved in the investigation I would bet that the odds of something like that happening aren't that great.
So anyway, if you are in Canada, I am pretty sure you won't want to miss this episode of Ghost Cases. Ghost Cases airs of Eastlink TV (I believe this episode airs on Dec 6th) and you can find out more about it here.
Happy Hunting!

This week on Ghost Adventures
Hi Lesley,
This Friday, the guys are heading back to the Old Washoe Club and the Chollar Mine in Virginia City Nevada. Five years ago, in the ballroom of the Washoe Club, Zak, the guys caught their very first video evidence of a ghost.
They are returning because recently several investigators have caught voices at the Washoe Club calling out Zak and Nick by name, and the voices don't have nice things to say.
I've included some advance info about the episode and a link to a video clip below. Feel free to share this info with friends, readers, or other fans of the show! Have a great day!
Episode info:
The guys head back to where it all began at the Washoe Club in Virginia City Nevada. They are re-visiting the location where they got their first documented video evidence of a ghost. The reason for their return is that several investigators have recently caught voices inside the Washoe Club calling out Zak and Nick by name.
The voices don't have nice things to say. Fellow investigators Mark and Debbie Constantino show the guys some EVP's saying, "Nick Groff," "Hate Nick," and "Zak look out." It appears the these spirits have unfinished business with Zak, Nick, and Aaron.
The guys will also be locked down in a location they did not visit during their previous investigation: The Chollar Mine. It is said that there are spirits of miners still stuck inside the mine. Countless men have died inside the mine thanks to fires, falls, electrocution. Once locked down, the guys hear the sounds of people working inside the mine.

Ghost Adventures Update
Hi Lesley,
Happy Thanksgiving (a little early I know). I hope you have a great holiday and enjoy some relaxing time with your friends and family. There is a brand new Ghost Adventures this Friday, so heat up some left-over turkey and enjoy!
The guys are investigating Remington Arms ammunition factory. At one point, Remington Arms was the largest weapons factory on the planet. I hope you enjoy your holiday. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me!
Below are episode details and some video links:
Episode info:
Many say that Remington Arms is cursed from the hundreds of thousands that have died as a result of the products manufactured there. If that weren't enough, there were dozens of accidental deaths and murders inside the factory.
There is one story about two men who fell into the lead smelting pots within the factory. As they fell into the molten lead, they were instantly killed. There is a theory that when you experience such a quick tragic death your spirit can't leave that place. The guys decide to leave a static camera in this location and you won't believe what they find.
Before the investigation even gets started, the guys feel unwelcome. While they are walking around in the middle of the day they hear unexplained hammering around the building, their camera lights stop working and they hear voices. The spirits were letting Zak, Nick, and Aaron know that they are in for an interesting night.

The latest from Ghost Adventures
Hi Lesley,
This Friday, the Ghost Adventures crew investigates Ohio Reformatory, one of the most active paranormal spots in the United States. The spirits here are some of the most aggressive Zak, Nick, and Aaron have ever encountered.
You don't want to miss the premiere this Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel. I hope you are enjoying the new episodes of Ghost Adventures. As always, if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me!
Below are episode details and some video links:
Episode info:
The spirits at Ohio Reformatory are angry. It seems to be infested with aggressive spirits. The prison has a long history of violent attacks. There have been over 155,00 inmates to pass through the prison in the last century. Both guards and former inmates tell stories of seeing the worst elements of the human spirit.
A former inmate, tells the guys a story about a man names Lockheart in the cell next to him. One day Lockheart decided to douse himself in paint thinner and set himself on fire. By the time anyone arrived to help, he was already dead. As Lockheart was dragged out of his cell to be put out, there were trails of burnt skin on the floor behind him.
Outside the prison is a graveyard full of inmates who died within the walls of the prison. Since nobody claimed them, they were buried in the prison graveyard. Finding an old relative won't be easy though, since the only identification on the gravestones are the inmate's prisoner numbers. After Zak learns this, he says "I think when there's a dishonorable burial, there is a recipe for trapped souls."

Ghost Adventures Update
Hi Lesley,
This Friday's episode is the result of a dream come true for Zak, Nick, and Aaron. They are investigating one of the darkest paranormal locations on earth: Poveglia Island. It is one of the scariest, most difficult experiences any of the guys have been through. So disturbing in fact, that they chose not to include some scenes in this episode.
You don't want to miss the premiere this Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel. You can always contact me if there is any other kind of content I can provide for you. Please let me know if you prefer not receive updates about Ghost Adventures. I hope you enjoy the investigation.
Below are episode details and some video links:
Episode info:
This week Zak, Nick, and Aaron visit one of the darkest spots on earth: Poveglia Island. On Poveglia, is an insane asylum built on the ashes and bones of thousands of bubonic plague victims. Thousands of people have died on the island as a result of plaugue, war, tsunami, and murder.
Many of the locals in Venice refuse to talk about Poveglia. They are even banned from visiting the island by the Italian government. Part of this dark energy is because during the plagues anyone who showed signs of the illness was taken to the island against their will. They would be left to die, and once they did, their bodies were burned and buried.
At one point Zak is overcome with anger and hatred. He believes he was taken over by a demonic spirit, but he chose not to include all that happened in the episode because is it so personally disturbing. It is the first experience to ever force the team to pause an investigation out of fear for their safety.

Ghost Adventures Returns!
Hi Lesley,
Since you were such a great supporter of Ghost Adventures last season, I wanted to send you some advance information on this Friday's all new episode. Zak, Nick, and Aaron will be at Pennhurst State, a school for the developmentally disabled, which was forced to close its doors in 1987 after numerous, heart-wrenching allegations of abuse and neglect.
Catch the episode premiere Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel. "Ghost Adventures Live Postmortem," a recap of last week's live event, will air at 8pm before the new episode. Below are episode details and some video links:
Episode info:
Pennhurst State became infamous in the 1980s when word spread about the despicable conditions in which the patients were forced to live. Pennhurst was home to more than 3,000 mentally challenged, mentally disabled, and developmentally disabled patients. There are countless claims of abuse. This partly because while the local zoo was spending $7.15 on their animals per day on their wards, Pennhurst could only afford $5.90.
When Zak asked Dr. James Conroy (Co-President of Pennhurst Memorial) if there was ever sexual abuse at the school. Dr. Conroy replied, "Absolutely. Constantly. Every night."
While the school was opened, there was a deafening sound from thousands of patients screaming. Today the sound of those screams has been replaced with a skin tingling silence. Needless to say, there is enough dark energy in this place to make your hair stand on end.

Some say...
A couple months before, Sarah’s mother had died and left her a house, but also a stack of bills. A job as part of the nightly cleaning team at the asylum was all she had been able to find when she moved back to West Virginia.
It was 1993 and there were rumors that the asylum would soon be closing, but Sarah hoped she would have a better job long before then.
On her drive to work, Sarah saw what she wasn’t sure was a large shadow or a large man with bat wings. She figured it was just a shadow, but had she known of Mothman and his warnings of danger she might have turned around, but then again, probably not because she did not believe in such things.
As she arrived for her first night of work she reached the employee entrances she once again thought she saw the shadow of a large creature flying overhead and very much felt like turning and running in the other direction. She reminded herself how badly she need the job. Besides, such tales were ridiculous and so she continued on.
She met her supervisor, Glen, and the other janitors and was then given a cart of cleaning supplies, a mop bucket and a mop. She was assigned a certain hallway, pointed in the direction and went on her way. A few seconds later Glen caught up with her.
“I just wanted to give you a warning.” He said.
“A warning?” Sarah asked.
“Yes. Whatever you may see or hear, just ignored it. Horrible things have happened here. They can’t hurt you if you are not willing to pay attention to them, but if you do pay attention they can cause you a lot of trouble.”
Sarah started to ask him what kind of trouble, but he was already heading away from her. He must believe the tales, she thought and she laughed to herself. Then she thought it was probably some sort of new employee hazing and they would all try to scare her later in the night. “Let them try,” she said partly out loud, she wasn’t going to let them scare her.
She reached the hallway where she was suppose to clean. It was very long and very dark even though the light was already on.
“Oh, so you give me the super creepy hallway? You can’t scare me that easily!” She said to the empty corridor.
Just then, ever so briefly, she thought she saw a little girl run across the hallway. Not really a little girl, it was more like a shadow of a little girl. Some sort of trick? She wondered. Or maybe she was just seeing things because she was expecting a trick? It had to be one or the other because Sarah absolutely did not believe in ghosts. After she had assured herself there was really nothing to fear she started her work.
The floor seemed to mostly hold storage rooms, along with a few offices. She was very happy that she had not been given part of the building with “residents” to clean. That is what she was told to call them when she was hired, “residents,” like it was some sort of assisted living facility and not a nuthouse. People that had no grip on reality, even if they weren’t violent, totally freaked Sarah out. Well, and everyone knew that most of the people housed in this asylum were violent criminals, or so the stories went.
The rooms in this hallway were filthy. It was like nobody had bothered to clean them in years. Probably another part of new employee hazing, she thought.
As she had first entered the hallway she had noticed a slight smell, but as she had continued down the hallway with her cleaning and was now in the middle the smell was overwhelming. It was the most horrible smell she could ever remember smelling. Like everything bad she had ever smelled combined into some sort of smelly bomb. She followed that smell and it led her a couple doors from where she was cleaning. The door had a small window in it and she took a flashlight from her cart and shined it is there. Much to her surprise there was nothing. The room was totally empty and looked completely clean and like it had been recently painted. She saw no closet or anywhere something that smelly could be hiding. She decided to go in and make sure, as she started to turn the door knob she heard a voice that sounded very much like a little girl say “you don’t want to go in there.” She spun around and looked up and down the hallway, but there was nobody there.
Just part of the hazing. Just a trick. Sarah told herself. She then looked up and down the hallway for some sort of speaker that could be broadcasting a voice. There was nothing of the sort. The hallway was completely white and aside from her cart there was nothing in it. “The cart!” She said to herself. She searched it up and down for something that could be broadcasting and again found nothing. Perhaps it was built into the cart itself? Yes, it seemed a bit overdone for a childish prank, but it was better than believing the hallway was haunted or that she was hearing things.
She continued on down the hall. She was cleaning the right side and would do the left on the way back. Eventually she was back in the middle and the smell was once again overwhelming. This time she literally thought she was going to be sick. She peered into the room again and once again she started to turn the knob and heard a voice say “DON’T!” She didn’t turn that time, she was tired of this game, prank or whatever they thought it was. She opened the door and looked in, before she could locate the light switch something pushed her into the room and the door slammed shut. She reached for the door knob and turned it, but it was locked. She was locked inside! She had also dropped her flashlight outside when she was pushed in, so she did her best to remain calm and felt along the wall for a light switch. She found one and flipped it, but no light came on.
“Very funny!” She shouted. “Now let me out of here!” She shouted other things to her tormenting co-workers, not all of them polite, but there was complete silence. She sat on the floor and waited, determined not to cry. Finally the little girl voice spoke again and it sounded very sad, “I told you not to open the door.” Across the room in the darkness Sarah seemed to be able to make out the shape of a small girl.
“Whatever they are paying you to help with this prank, I will pay you more if you just open the door.” Sarah told the child.
“I can’t open doors.” Said the child.
She got up and walked to the child. She would make her open the door. She reached for her, but grabbed nothing more than air. Then the male voice came.
“She can’t help you.” It said in a very menacing sounding tone.
“I don’t find this at all funny!” Sarah said and just as she did so the light flashed on for a brief few seconds and just across the room from here were two men that she had never seen before. One was holding a knife.
“Leave her alone!” The little girl shouted from somewhere.
“Get out of here Lily! Don’t you remember what happened last time you interfered?” Said one of the men.
Sarah then heard a bit of a scuffle, the little girl screamed and then there was the sound of someone running down the hall. A few seconds later Sarah felt someone choking her and fight as she might, she could not break free. It was about that time that Glen came along to check on Sarah. He never returned to his work, though it still took the other employees a few hours to notice he was missing. They found him dead, in a pool of blood next to an unconscious Sarah.
Years before the two men known as Jerry and Ike had been handymen at the facility. The child Lily had seen them kill a male patient that had angered them somehow, making it look like a suicide. To keep her from talking they killed her too and walled her up in a room they were working on in a part of the building used only for storage. The facility never reported her missing, they figured she had somehow escaped and they didn’t need any bad publicity. At that time there was also a patient known as Silent Seth, he was not considered at all dangerous and was often sent to help the handymen with various jobs. A couple weeks after Lily’s disappearance Jerry and Ike were found dead, their throats cut. Nobody was sure how Silent Seth had managed to kill both men or why and since he never spoke they never found out. Jerry and Ike had wanted revenge for years, but never got it. They had tried attacking Seth many times after their deaths, but he didn’t even notice they were there or if he did he never acted like it. Ike was more surprised than Glen when he realized his knife was actually killing a living person. By the time the other employees arrived and found Glen and Sarah whatever brief powers they had been granted that night had disappeared and nobody even noticed them.
Physically, Sarah recovered, but she never could explain what happened in that room. In fact, nobody could even get near her without her being strapped down, she would lash out at anyone who tried and babble nonsense. The police tried hard to get answers from her because they had never found the knife that gave Glen his many stab wounds, but never got anything out of her other than “ask Lily.” Sarah became one of the “residents” of Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, she often spent her days jabbering away to her imaginary friend that she called Lily.
The asylum closed in 1994 and Sarah was moved to better, more modern facility. Her friend Lily stayed at Trans-Allegheny and Sarah never again spoke to anyone and became known as Silent Sarah.
The new facility is more efficient and modern, but some say it was cursed even before the first resident arrived...

Ghost Cases
Last night I watched epiosde 2 of Ghost Cases which will air this week on Eastlink TV in Canada. Strange as it might seem, given this blog, I don't watch a lot of ghost shows or even very much TV. Normally I only watch if I happen upon one when I am bored and scanning through channels. This blog started as a PR photo contest blog for Ghost Hunters and after 2 years it still had too many visitors for me to want to delete it -- so came Ghostly Happenings.
Anyhow, that said, I do sometimes watch ghost shows and Ghost Cases was quite different from the types of ghost shows seen here in the US. It was kind of old school. They didn't go in and set up tons of equipment or over-hype every single sound and discovery. It was kind of refreshing and I think good to not have another cookie cutter ghost show on TV, even if it is only in Canada.
One of the things I like best about it is the male/female partner set-up. I just wrote about the sad lack of females on paranormal programming here in the US in the last issue of UFO Magazine. Normally if there is a female, there is only one and at least 3 men. Aside from that (and I may be wrong) I got the feeling that Holly was much more open and probably believed in ghosts a lot more than Paul. Holly seemed dead serious about it. As you can tell by her photo, she is very nice to look at too.
If I had to pick the creepiest thing about episode 2, it is the spiders in the creepy cellar. I am terrified of most spiders! Meaning all that live inside, instead of outside where I feel they should live. There was also an EVP that probably would have scared the crap out of me, but I had burned the show to disk and was watching it on TV and for some reason I couldn't hear what the EVP was saying and couldn't get to the remote in time to turn it up. I decided to let that be, because I was going to sleep after that and of all things that totally scare me in the paranormal realm -- EVPs are at the top of the list. I can watch ghost videos all night and they don't bother me, but those creepy voices send shivers up and down my spine. Sometime I will play that during the day and see what it said.
I was left wondering -- did what Holly, Paul and the psychic did at the farm heal the problems the residents were having? I hope so, it must be horrible to live with a sense of dread in your own home.
BTW, you can check out Paul and Holly's blog here. They also have a fan page on facebook. Most importantly though, if you are in Canada, make sure to watch the show!

Ghost Adventures - Moon River Brewing Investigation
This week the GA crew is locking down at the Moon River Brewing Company in Savannah, arguably one of the most haunted cities in the country. Catch the episode premiere Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel. Below are episode details and a preview video I wanted to share with you.
The Moon River Brewery Company occupies the building where the first hotel in Savannah, Georgia, once stood. The City Hotel was an upscale establishment, however the affluent clientele occasionally resorted to violence defending their Southern honor. Since the Moon River Brewery opening, the staff and customers have encountered many unexplained, and sometimes violent, occurrences. Accounts include bottles being thrown by unseen forces and people being touched, pushed, and slapped by invisible spirits. One prominent ghostly figure is "Toby," who lurks in the bar's billiard room where he has been known to push patrons and staff.
Also, a glowing white apparition has reportedly been seen on the restaurant's upper floors and is believed to be the spirit of a hotel worker who died there in the late 1800s.

Eastern State Penitentiary - New Ghost Adventures Investigation
The Ghost Adventures crew is going on a true "lockdown" this week as they investigate the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, one of the oldest standing prisons in the country. I wanted to provide you some location details and an extended video preview of this all new episode, premiering Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel.
The Eastern State Penitentiary, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in the world. The prison first opened its doors in 1829 and was designed to hold 253 prisoners, each occupying a solitary confinement cell for their entire sentence. Although executions were not carried out at Eastern State, the prison was home to its fair share of murders. At least two guards were murdered over the years as were many inmates. Hundreds of others died from disease and old age. The inmates are long gone but there is strong evidence that their angry spirits continue to roam the cell blocks and corridors.

Ghost Adventures - Bird Cage Theater Video Preview
This week the Ghost Adventures Crew is heading to Tombstone, AZ for an investigation of the Bird Cage Theater, one of the most haunted buildings in the wild west. I just wanted to drop you a quick note to provide location details and an extended video preview. Tune in for the episode premiere and see what evidence the team discovers this Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel.
"The New York Times" once called the former gambling hall, saloon and brothel, "the roughest, bawdiest, and most wicked night spot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast." The walls of the Bird Cage Theater are riddled with over 140 bullet holes and at least 26 people lost their lives here in gun or knife fights. Visitors and employees of the Bird Cage Theater have reported seeing the spirits of former prostitutes and men in cowboy hats. Some claim to have been touched and pushed by unseen forces.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that the Ghost Adventures crew is investigating the La Purisima Mission in Lompoc, California this Friday at 9 PM E/P on the Travel Channel. Below are episode details and an extended video preview.
The La Purisima Mission is a former Spanish residence of padres, soldiers and the native Chumash. The area is beautiful, but the air around it is heavy with the tragedy of disease and war. At La Purisima, the sounds of flutes and the voices of the long-gone inhabitants are reported to still linger. Trapped within its white-washed walls, the spirits seem bound to this land, forever locked in their struggle with each other.
