The Haunted Home of Joan Crawford

Joan Crawford epitomized the essence of the Hollywood rags-to-riches story-a poor shopgirl who, in the 1920s, becomes the very embodiment of America's "flaming youth" and then transcends the role of "dancing daughter" to emerge the heroine of America's favorite melodramas.

In 1978, Christina Crawford, Joan's adopted daughter, wrote Mom-mie Dearest and shocked the United States with her heart-wrenching story of what it was really like growing up with one of Hollywood's most famous leading ladies. Mommie Dearest was on the New York Times best-seller list for forty-two weeks and was made into a 1981 film star-ring Faye Dunaway.

In 1989, we heard rumors of haunting manifestations in Joan Craw-ford's former home, and Christina seemed genuinely surprised that we knew about the stories.

"Not many people know that the house I grew up in may be haunted. It is not in print anywhere," she said.

From the mailbox -- Ghost Photos, drkrm Gallery

After several years of dismissing inexplicable sounds, fleeting shadows and broken crockery, owners of a modest home in the Los Angeles hills began to suspect their house may be haunted. They started taking Polaroid pictures of cold spots and places in the house where their Saint Bernard refused to tread. What they got back were snapshots that were astonishing. is again hosting a special Halloween retrospective of this unique collection of paranormal photographs. As featured on the television shows SIGHTINGS, UNEXPLAINED MYSTERIES and A&E’s BIOGRAPHY, these strange images are just a fraction of the hundreds captured.

Taken in the 1990s before Photoshop, digital imaging and cell phone cameras changed photography forever, each Polaroid is original and distinctive. They show familiar rooms with wispy, feathery tendrils and misty tufts of white substances and, amazingly, cloud-like ectoplasmic writing; answers to whatever questions had been asked of the enitity. Usually the response came in English, but sometimes it appeared in Latin. When asked “Did you die in this house?” the answering spirit responded in Latin:“Et alla Corpus delicti,” (which translates among other things, a murder victim). The words floating in midair were invisible when the photograph was taken.

Seeing Things: Ghost Polaroids explores the boundary between the known and the unknown. It asks whether something as simple and functional as photographs of record—people at a party, an empty room, an open door—can be a gateway to something more. These startling photographs challenge perceptions of reality and art. Is the image of the room with the ghostly writing the way we see ghosts, or is it the way ghosts see us? Who is seeing things, after all? Come explore these strangely surreal photographs and decide for yourself.

Ghost Adventures – Series Premier October 17th

From Travel Channel PR

The brand new Travel Channel series Ghost Adventures kicks off this Friday October 17th and I wanted to provide you with some details on the show and a sneak peak video clip.

Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans and his crew Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin search for haunted locations both domestically and internationally. They research the area, interview locals about the hauntings and then go face-to face with the spirits in a 12 hour overnight lock-down. Friday night begins with the award-winning Ghost Adventures documentary at 8 pm ET, followed by the series premier at 10 pm ET. This week the team is at Bobby Mackey Music World in Wilder, KY where local interviews help reveal the sinister past behind the cheerful nightclub setting.

Immediately following the show there will be a live video chat with Zak and the team where you can get to know the guys more personally and ask any questions.

Here is sneak peak at the upcoming series. Please, feel free to embed on your site:

Also, Zak put together a very cool online video gear guide where he walks through all of the

team's ghost-hunting equipment.

Travel Channel Halloween!

I got my little press package from Travel Channel. Among other things it contained chocolate covered insects. :-(

There was also a eyeball lolly-pop, a dvd which I think is promo for the Halloween shows and some postcard type things for some of the shows. One of the postcards was for a show called Ghost Adventures. I hadn't heard of that, but the card says --

Eight of the scariest sites on Earth.
Three paranormal investigators.
One night of lockdown.
You've never experienced ghost hunting like this.
Sounds cool! It starts Oct 17th on the Travel Channel.

Time to Change

As some of you may have noticed I have changed the title of this blog. It has too many visitors for me to want to delete it. I don't feel like doing anymore ghost photo contests since the last one didn't work out well, but Halloween is nearing and that made me feel like reviving this site. So keep watching and we will see what I come up with.
